Not on most people’s training regimen…
Published May 20th, 2003 in UncategorizedThe ride got me a bit hungry. The only thing I could find to eat in the apartment was pasta or tortilla chips. I figured a bag full of chips and salsa wasn’t exactly healthy, and pasta didn’t sound so good to me since I had if for both lunch and dinner the day before. Therefore, I figured it was a good idea to head down to the Mad Hatter for dinner.
The plan was to eat healthy, so I ordered the chicken sandwich with a salad instead of the standard fries. I’m aware the pint of Guinness I had with the meal wasn’t exactly healthy, but hell after that ride I deserve it! Anyway, while sitting at the bar eating my sandwich, watching the end of the Giants game I noticed the 3 guys next to me were celebrating something rather enthusiastically. After the 3rd round of shots my curiosity took over my better judgment.
I asked, “Hey, what are you guys celebrating tonight? It can’t be this game because the Giants seem to be throwing it away.”
The one guy responded, “We just bought ownership in this bar tonight!” His name was Rich, he introduced me to Ivan and his third friend who’s name I can’t remember for the life of me.
Then Ivan asked, “Chad, why don’t you join us for a drink?”
I refused a couple of times claiming that I had to go to work in the morning, but after the third refusal Rich reached over, put his hand on my shoulder and said, “Have a drink with us”. I quickly noted that he was the size of person I didn’t want to get upset and this statement wasn’t exactly a question anymore. Thus, I agreed to the drink. Well the next round turned into two rather extremely quick rounds. Once Ivan began ordering my third round, which would have been their 6th, I immediately told them I was out! I’m positive my stomach would have been very upset with the third shot of Jamesons in a matter of 5 minutes.
I paid my bill, congratulated them once again on their investment, and made my way home to avoid what could have been a rather rude morning.
