Nicole and I arrived at Christopher’s place in Tahoe around 10:30 on Wednesday night. It took only a matter of minutes after exchanging hugs to crack open the first bottle of zinfandel to begin catching up. Of course this only lasted an hour or two before I needed to hit the hay, Thanksgiving was going to be a big day.

Nicole and I were both up by 9am, had a cup of joe, got dressed and headed over to Heavenly for our first runs of the season. I guess we were pretty excited to hit the slopes considering it’s been almost 6 months since we last strapped boards to our feet.

Yes, yes we decided to get the $299 Heavenly pass this year and skip Kirkwood’s deal. I agree, Kirkwood has much nicer terrain, but it take a little over an hour to get there from Christopher’s place, where Heavenly is right in his back yard. Seriously, it only takes 3 minutes to get to the Stagecoach lift. Also, we noticed last year that those days where you just want to make a couple of turns before heading back to SF on Sunday morning wasn’t so easily accomplished at Kirkwood.

Anyway, I wouldn’t exactly call the 4 runs that Heavenly had open epic, but it was enough for us to get our legs back and ready for the long season ahead of us. Since we have the pass you don’t feel jipped, but instead have a bit of satisfaction knowing you only need to go 5 more times to pay for the pass. Yes people were paying $52 for their pass today, and apparently that’s the early season rate. It’s going to be $64 for the regularly season! What a ripoff…

Around 3pm Nicole and I begin to feel our legs a bit and decided to call it a day. We called Christopher to come pick us up, he need to take my car to go back to the house early to help start the holiday cooking. Which we were looking forward too…

I wasn’t complaining about Heavenly’s terrain yesterday when I was cutting up a foot of fresh powder. Heavenly is all about the trees. Which are nearly skiable on the the upper mountain now.
