Broke down and bought Tivo…
Published March 25th, 2004 in MiscAfter playing around with Tivo at Brandon’s place this past weekend, I felt it was necessary for me to go out and get one for myself!
Initially, I was only going to go cheap and purchase the 40hr Tivo box from Costco but when I got there they only had 140hr boxes in stock. So instead I headed over to Best Buy and found the Toshiba SD-H400 Digital Media Server which is a DVD player with an 80hr Tivo box built in! The cool thing is I found an open box which was marked for $359, then Best Buy has a $100 rebate on this model, plus Tivo’s $50 spring rebate. So I get all of this for $209! (plus tax of course) Not to shabby…
Unfortunately, I have to wait until tomorrow morning after it’s all done programming itself to see how well it really works…
SD-H400 is a great unit. I have it connected to 802.11 network using USB Wireless adapter, so updating programming takes no time.
