Radio David Bryne

I just stumbled across David Bryne’s radio stream. You know him from The Talking Heads, you remember Once in a Lifetime, Psycho Killer, Burning Down the House… Anyway, his music has changed a bit since then, but if you dig that sort of thing then you will definitely enjoy his choices here. It’s pretty much what I was expecting, a large mix of “world” music, but I’m glad to see he’s slipped in artists like Cat Power.

Real should jump on this bandwagon and implement an easy way to set up feeds within Rhapsody. Then sign up a couple of well known artists, find out what they are playing on their home stereos these days, then publish a ‘Radio’ stream from there.

Btw, feel free to leave me suggestions on what music you like to listen to. I’m always looking for new groves to fill up my long days of hacking.

3 Days in Tahoe

Tahoe Rock

Nicole and I decided to take a 3 day weekend up in Tahoe to enjoy what the past week or so of rain in San Francisco has brought us in the mountains. I have to say for the end of March there is still a ton of snow left to ski. We didn’t make it on the slopes until 2:30 today, but the drive up was nice and relaxing. It’s amazing how much more you see when the sun it out, I guess driving up in the middle of the night most of the time you never really see the snow and mountains. Well the weather report looks pretty good, it should be a nice weekend.

Artist Recommendation: Pedro The Lion

Okay, I just discovered Pedro The Lion on Rhapsody about 20 minutes ago, but so far I am really digging them. Unfortunately Rhapsody only has an EP from 1997, so it’s pretty out of date. The sound reminds me a lot of Low, which is probably why they are actually touring with them right now. Funny how that happens, they are in Austin right now for SXSW and will be making their way though San Francisco in a couple of weeks. Now I just have to remember to pick up tickets before the shows sell out. Take a listen and tell me what you think!

Who’s up for a Latte?

The reason why I got sucked into Amazon Prime the other day was due to the fact I broke the glass for Nicole’s cafe froth thingy. Amazon had it for $7.99, and with Prime I already have it in my mitts. I just love the instant gratification of online shopping. So tonight Cafe Solis is back in business, man I’ve been jonesin’ for a cappuccino the past couple of nights!

Amazon Prime… Yeah, I’ll take that!

It only took a matter of minutes to figure out that the $79 membership to Amazon Prime was a great deal for me. Not only does it gives you free 2nd day delivery, but if for some reason you need to have that new Britney Spears CD in your hands as early as tomorrow, then you can upgrade to overnight shipping for only $3.99. How great is that?!

Happy Hour at Zeitgeist…

The weather in San Francisco over the past couple of days has been steller. I’m talking 80 degrees and sunny, and it’s only March 11th folks. Not to worry, the fog has rolled in tonight so we’ll be back to our normal 60′s temps for the weekend.

Anyway, after spending a good portion of the day working from home and staring out the window at the crystal blue sky, I decided it was time to get out of the house for a drink. Ji suggested Zeitgeist for happy hour. It’s pretty much known as a biker / bike messenger bar located in the Mission. Far as I know it’s has the largest backyard garden area, which is clutch on days like today. As you can see from the pictures this place fills right up, and begins to look like a large house party. And by the time we left it pretty much was, most people were half in the bag and hooking up with complete strangers. Even though over 80% of them have tattoos, they tend to be a rather friendly bunch.

Well it’s rather hard to complain about a place which sells $10 pitchers of beer and a excellent BBQ burgers with home fries for a messily $6. Just make sure you get there early, on nice days like today you may find yourself in a line out front waiting to get in!
