Amazon Prime… Yeah, I’ll take that!
Published March 13th, 2005 in ShoppingIt only took a matter of minutes to figure out that the $79 membership to Amazon Prime was a great deal for me. Not only does it gives you free 2nd day delivery, but if for some reason you need to have that new Britney Spears CD in your hands as early as tomorrow, then you can upgrade to overnight shipping for only $3.99. How great is that?!
What I bought today would have cost me $17.95 to ship 2nd day, and that’s with Group my items into as few shipments as possible. If you haven’t shopped on Amazon before, this means if one item takes 2-4 days to ship for availability reasons, then all of your items will take 2-4 days to ship. Depending on the size of the items, this can be a big savings to you in shipping fees. With Prime you can freely select I want my items faster, Ship them as they become available and still get 2nd day shipping for free on all items! You know what, I don’t care how many packages Amazon sends me, just as long as I get them as quick as possible.
As an added bonus, I’m able to share this membership with Nicole since we live at the same residence. It’s going to be hard not to shop though Amazon now that there’s no sales tax and free 2nd day shipping. Which is exactly what they want. Man this is going to be huge come Christmas time.
Who is still buying CDs? If I need that new Britney Spears, I will just head on over to iTunes and own it in about 20 seconds
Yeah, well you and Nicole both. I’m not a fan of iTunes, probably because I’m not an iPod owner. I really don’t care to buy single tracks. I’m a firm believer that one should have to suffer though the bad tracks to get to the good ones.
As for my digital music, it’s delivered by Rhapsody.
It’s strange I have no problem buying software online and only receiving a digital version, but with music I feel I need the physical CD and liner notes. I’m guessing that’s why we still have a bunch of vinyl in the bookcase as well.
Is that why I bought 5 CDs at Amoeba yesterday and you didn’t want to buy any? Rhapsody has turned you from a CD buyer into an Internet-only listener!
Well my mind went blank the other day trying to figure out what to pick up. We did get Jack Johnson latest, which is pretty darn good. But, I guess you could say “you picked” that one.
I buy CDs. They’re $30 for 100 down at Costco. You can burn whatever kind of music you like on them.
Get tired of one, just chuck it in the parking garage dumpster, and burn another.
Oh, you mean those $17 CDs at the music store? I can’t remember when I bought a CD that way. I must have stopped buying them by 2001, at the latest. I ripped my entire CD library to MP3s and gave them all to my sister to sell. She was in college at the time and could’ve used the extra money.
