Napa Weekend

This past weekend was spent in Napa to attend my friends Peter and Mercedes wedding. Initially the plan was to just drive up for the wedding itself, but at the last minute I decided on making a full weekend of it. Here are some of the highlights:

When traveling…

…try to book flights through Pittsburgh (PIT)!

For some reason FREE wifi always puts a smile on my face, or maybe it’s due the fact that I’ve only had 2 or 3 hours of rest. Either way this should make the 2:30 hour layover fly by

[of course the pun is intended, it is 6AM EST after all!]

Weekend in Rochester

I’m taking the red-eye tonight to spend a long weekend in Rochester, NY. My brother will be getting married in December, so this is going to be the obligatory bachelor weekend.

Now there isn’t going to be a huge party where we everyone ends up face buried in the toilet. Or a stack of pictures which would need to be burned, and should have never been taken in the first place.

Instead this weekend is going to be a bit more relaxing. With golfing, black jack, and the Buffalo Bills home opener on the agenda. I haven’t been to Orchard Park in over 10 years.

Not to let y’all down; I’m sure there will be plenty of drinking going on as well.

Wisdom teeth: gone!

And what’s left behind are a couple big holes!

So the whole procedure took about an hour. I only remember the first 15-20 minutes, once that IV went it everything pretty much goes black. The next think I vaguely remember is Nicole helping me climb the steps to our apartment. I have a couple friends from college who would have had flashbacks to a few of the $5 all you can drink nights down on Alexander St.

Have I told you how cool Nicole is? She took yesterday off to help me out with the appointment. Just helping me get around in that state was enough, but then she went off to the store and bought me a ton of pudding, jello, and sorbet. This sure makes up for having band practice on my Birthday! ;)

I have to say I’m a bit surprised at how little pain I am in, considering all of the horror stories I have heard over the years. Maybe it’s just the drugs have gotten better, but I haven’t been taking the Vicodin as much as was prescribed and still feel pretty darn good.

Now maybe that’s due to all of the pain I went though as a kid with braces, or maybe my doctor did a pretty damn good job. It’s been less that 24 hours, so I suppose the whole back of my mouth could still collapse. But, I’m hoping that will not be the case.

Not so wise…

The good news?

I have Thursday and Friday off.

The bad news?

I am having my only two wisdom teeth removed. They are impacted, so it requires my doctors to knock me out! I claimed that I’m only half wise, but the oral surgeon was quick to respond “Maybe you’re just more evolved“. NICE!

Which lead me to believe, my joke wasn’t all that original…

I’m not too worried about the procedure, but I really don’t think I’m going to be so well in about 11 hours from now. I should probably go and get some rest, although I’m guessing that’s all I’ll be doing for the next couple of days. With help from the pharmacist of course.

Anyway, wish me luck!

3 Days in Tahoe

Tahoe Rock

Nicole and I decided to take a 3 day weekend up in Tahoe to enjoy what the past week or so of rain in San Francisco has brought us in the mountains. I have to say for the end of March there is still a ton of snow left to ski. We didn’t make it on the slopes until 2:30 today, but the drive up was nice and relaxing. It’s amazing how much more you see when the sun it out, I guess driving up in the middle of the night most of the time you never really see the snow and mountains. Well the weather report looks pretty good, it should be a nice weekend.
